Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary - Ngamba Island is part of the Koome group of islands located on Lake Victoria, 23km southwest of Entebbe, Uganda. It consists approximately of 100 acres, majority of which is forested and the rest is used by the chimpanzees. it was established in 1998 and is currently home to over 40 orphaned chimpanzees. It provides a secure home to live out thier lives, since a return to their natural habitat is not currently possible.

The sanctuary aims to educate visitors, local communities and the general public about this remarkable species and the importance of conserving their fragile forest habitat.

• Its a place to spend time watching chimpanzees as they play, interact with each other and even watch what they are doing is undoubtedly one of the many fascinating experiences you can enjoy in Uganda.

Chimpanzee viewing Times.
Feeding times from the visitor viewing platform are at 11am and 2.30pm. You can view either of them. You are advised to arrive at the island at least 1 hour before the feeding so that you listen to the informative talk by the sanctuary staff; enjoy the islands beautiful views, natural wildlife, bird life and activities such as volley ball, swimming in the lake, kayaking and island shopping.

Sunset Cruise
Why not treat yourself to a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria where you will get an opportunity to see several species of birds(over 130 recorded species), monitor lizards or even the elusive otter.
This also provides you with an opportunity to visit the fishing communities on the neighboring islands.
