Jinja - The Adrenaline Capital of East Africa - Jinja town stands beside the sole outflow from Lake Victoria, a location that John Speke proclaimed in 1862 to be the source of the Nile thus settling the mystery of this iconic river that dated back to the time of the ancient Egyptians.Below its Outlet from Lake Victoria, the Nile valley descends between high,cultivated banks over a series of rapids marked by forested mid-channel islands. Jinja offers upmarket guest houses, and mid-range and budget hotels.

River Nile
River Nile has its source at Jinja 80kms from Kampala. This river locates it's source at Lake Victoria and it is from here that it starts its great journey all the way to north Africa in Egypt.
Known for its challenging rapids, Victoria Nile was selected to host the World Whitewater Rafting Championship in 1999. The combination of the scenery and the challenge make this one of the world's best whitewater trips.

A story is told of heavy waves that tormented fishermen around this Island.Fishermen, especially from the eastern bank (Bukaya) who frequented the Island regularly complained about the bubbling winds;'empewo yawano esamuka'. Thus the name Samuka was born.
